July 29, 2009 — Ah yes, a family reunion. Is it a time for getting together with family members that you see quite often and some you don't often at all and then really enjoy catching up on what is happening in your family. Or, is it a scary time because you may not know most of the people or haven't seen them in eons. I think the former is the case or should be.
My family is planning such an event for July 2010 in our ancestral home in Iowa. For some of those that will be attending, this will be quite a journey distance wise. We last got together in the summer of 2006 and it was the first such occasion. Seems family reunions are not in vogue for some. This reunion was a blast and full of surprises. A few family members are taking upon themselves to plan this event and we get information out to other family members via our family web site, email, and word of mouth. Everyone is encouraged to join in the planning.
July 2010 will be a special time for our family because of this reunion. It will be special in so many ways some of which we will not realize maybe for years, but those of us in attendance will remember. It's as I said before "Families Are Forever." It's what really matters!
